Welcome to the Procyon Rising Lottery Project, a collaborative attempt to win the National Lottery, with an astrological twist.
This is a group attempt to forecast the lottery numbers. The unique feature: we use astrology to identify members who are likely to be more lucky in each draw, and can selectively use the numbers provided by those people to buy our tickets.
I ask contributors to send me just three numbers for each draw. You can pick more numbers if you wish, but I will only use your first three numbers for the purpose of calculating your long-term record and your share of any winnings. Please place first any numbers you feel strongly about.
I expect people will mainly attempt to visualise the lottery numbers, but you can use any method you choose: software, pencil & paper, lucky dips, personal favourite numbers.
I buy all the tickets, but will give a share of my winnings to participants: I will share 50% of my winnings with participants, up to a maximum of £100,000 per draw.
Participants will receive a share of the winnings for each correct prediction they make. The share of winnings you receive will depend on the total number of hits you have scored, so you could win even if you don't score on that particular draw.
I encourage participants to attempt to choose
numbers during the 'Libra' period where possible:
See the Libra Lottery Project for more
details.
Overseas participants are welcome, as you will have a financial interest in scoring hits, and so have a connection with the draw. I share the predictions with everyone who takes part, so UK participants will have the added advantage of buying your own tickets based on the collective numbers chosen.
We can choose our ticket purchases in three ways:
1. A straighforward frequency count of the numbers submitted.
2. Skewing our selections in favour of contributors with the highest hit rate (on the assumption that some people have more psychic ability).
3. Skewing our selection in favour of contributors having a 'lucky peak' around the time of the draw (on the assumption that astrology works!).
I personally favour the third option, but I hope we will have a chance to explore each of these.
If anyone would like to take part, please email me with your birthdate.
Choosing Your Numbers
You can use any method you wish to select your numbers, although I expect most people will attempt to visualise the lottery. Begin by creating a specific intent focussed on the upcoming draw. I recommend getting into a short meditative state first. A good time to meditate is first thing in the morning, or at the Libra time. (After a meal is not the best time to meditate; you will probably be more sleepy than alert.) Try to pick a time when you are not likely to be disturbed.
Meditation can be broken down into three components:
1. RELAXATION: Sit upright in a comfortable position, with eyes gently closed, and allow your thoughts to settle. Imagine the outside world dissolving away, leaving you floating in empty space. Turn your attention to each part of the body in turn, starting from the crown of the head and working downwards; imagine all the tension draining away, leaving you in a state of relaxation.
2. CONCENTRATION: Single-pointed concentration on a particular object or idea appears to effect neurological changes in the brain, co-ordinating the left and right hemispheres, and perhaps improving our intuitive capacities. You may choose to focus on an object, a mantra or a virtuous idea, but I suggest you start by watching the breath as it enters and leaves through the tip of the nose. Whenever your mind wanders (and it will!), gently return to observing the breath. Alternatively, you could focus on the upcoming lottery draw.
3. INSIGHT: With dedication and practice, meditation leads to intuitive insight. You will find numbers popping into your mind from nowhere. Don't let your logical left-brain dissuade you from these numbers, for instance because they were drawn recently, or are too close together. When you have three numbers, send them to me. Simple!
If you are meditating on the numbers themselves, it might help to keep in mind the colours of the balls:
1 - 9: WHITE
10 - 19: BLUE
20 - 29: PINK
30 - 39: GREEN
40 - 49: YELLOW
It might also help to watch the lottery draw. If you can't watch it live, you can view it on the BBC iPlayer.
March was a poor month for the group (51%); April was shaping up to be much better (212%), until we add the figures for the last four draws, which brings us back to the expected average.
The PEAK numbers returned to good form, exceeding double the expected level (PEAK = 238%). Meanwhile, the QS measure (91%) still fails to impress.
Taking numbers from the best-performing contributors continues to disappoint (BEST = 63%). This could be construed as circumstantial evidence in favour of the astrological hypothesis: if we each have our destined lucky periods, then in subsequent draws we should do less well. One of the questions I asked at the beginning was whether it would be profitable to focus on best-performing contributors: I think I've seen enough now to persuade me to drop this line of enquiry.
For the first time I have figures for numbers picked by more than one contributor. In Mar/Apr this matched the PEAK performance ( TOP = 233%), and it also matches the PEAK performance over the longer duration (see figures below).
In the five months since the project began, the total scores are as follows:
Overall score: 94%
PEAK: 156%
QS: 71%
BEST: 67%
TOP: 159%
The PEAK score has now returned to statistical significance (binomial p = 0.033). Let's hope we can keep it there!
I have bought 369 tickets and won six prizes (6.8 expected). There is £30 in the kitty, divided among 30 shares (EPS = £1.00).
